A discharge resistor is used for the targeted and controlled voltage discharge of electrical energy storage devices such as batteries or capacitors. Discharge resistors are used wherever components need to be de-energised after shutdown – for example, for maintenance work or the safe shutdown of systems. FRIZLEN offers reliable, robust solutions that are specially designed for industrial applications.

Our discharge resistors ensure controlled energy conversion into heat, enabling the safe discharge of DC voltages up to 1000 V. Depending on requirements, we supply compact, portable devices for mobile use or permanently installed systems with integrated safety switches. For particularly demanding applications – such as in the service area of electric drive technology – we combine encapsulated flat resistors with IP54 protection in customised housings with additional switching functions.

Mobile discharge resistors for service technicians

Compact device for safe discharge up to 1000 V DC

For maintenance and service work in electrical drive technology, FRIZLEN offers a portable discharge resistor device with IP54 protection. The robust system integrates up to three encapsulated flat resistors in a compact housing with an attached switch box. The integrated safety switch allows the discharge to be triggered safely on site. Voltmeters and connection sockets enable easy monitoring. Ideal for service technicians who need to discharge capacitors or DC link batteries safely and quickly.

Permanently installable, adapted to your system design

In industrial systems with large capacitors – e.g. in converters or energy recovery systems – reliable discharge after shutdown is essential. FRIZLEN develops permanently installed discharge resistors that are precisely tailored to the voltage and energy profile of your application. As encapsulated flat resistors or in combination with steel mesh resistor elements, they meet high requirements in terms of load capacity, design and thermal behaviour. Available with thermal monitoring and mechanically optimised mounting bracket on request.

Discharge resistors for battery storage systems

Safe voltage isolation during servicing and transport

In certain cases, such as maintenance or transport, UPS systems and battery storage units must be quickly reduced to a defined voltage level. FRIZLEN offers powerful discharge resistors with ohmic characteristics designed for typical DC voltages in the range up to 850 V. Stationary resistors are available, as well as mobile discharge resistors designed for operation with DC voltage sources.
