Reliable power resistors for industrial applications

Braking resistors for machine tools

Few industries cover such a broad spectrum as machine tool manufacturing – in terms of materials, shapes and technologies. Almost all applications are characterised by absolute precision and ever-increasing production speeds.

FRIZLEN resistance devices are used as braking resistors in conjunction with frequency converters and in the power supply of the machines.

Braking resistors for frequency converter drives

In operating conditions where the motor becomes a generator (e.g. during lowering or braking), the generator energy must be dissipated. This task can be performed by a braking resistor (also known as a chopper resistor).

Our product finder or, of course, your contact person at FRIZLEN will help you choose the right device.

Short-circuit brake modules for emergency stop function

Three-phase braking resistors are often used to implement the emergency stop function of a machine. These braking resistors work in direct conjunction with a three-phase synchronous motor. The resistor is connected to the motor's three-phase circuit using a contactor.

The motor windings are short-circuited in a controlled manner via resistors. The aim of this very robust circuit is to ensure a braking effect independent of the frequency converter's power feedback.

Power resistors in medical technology

Highest quality requirements, limited installation space and particularly low EMC values – these are usually the challenges our partners in medical technology present us with.

FRIZLEN has been active in this market for many years and has worked with customers to develop specific answers to often tricky questions. Tell us about your project. Together we will find a suitable solution!

Slowing down rotational movement in MRI machines

Speed and efficiency are also important targets in the medical field, e.g. in the development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment. In the case of MRI equipment, this often means higher rotational energies that must be controlled by the device. Braking resistors from FRIZLEN enable this dynamic – for shorter treatment times and thus better patient care.

Flat resistor in special design

Based on the customer's specifications, we can draw on a wide range of solutions and integrate the required braking power into the available installation space. Please feel free to contact us!

Handling and robotics

The demands placed on production for continuous productivity improvements are enormous. This applies equally to handling equipment and robots, which help to reduce cycle times through faster movements.

FRIZLEN offers a wide range of resistors for this field of application. The flat resistor product group in particular, with its compact dimensions and high energy absorption capacity, offers the right properties for the very limited installation space in robots.

For external mounting on handling devices, FRIZLEN offers resistor devices with a high protection class up to IP67.

Braking resistors for robotics

Constant starting and braking places extreme stress on drive systems. Whether controlled by servo controllers or frequency converters, FRIZLEN braking resistors are well equipped for the task.

Thanks to various profile dimensions, the flat resistors fit into the available installation space. An optional temperature switch allows the resistance's limit range to be used optimally: if a borderline surface temperature is reported, the control system can process the information and adjust the movement profile.
